And now for the Bath Salts!
I love, love, love relaxing in a hot bath surrounding myself with candles and creating my own spa-like environment. That’s why I just adore bath salts. And truthfully, these are the easiest DIY ever! You can increase this recipe by simply doubling, tripling etc. to make several gifts at a time. You can also add dried organic flowers, buds, leaves or peels or a few drops of soap colorant or 1/2 tsp -1 tsp natural clays for color if you want pretty color. But color is optional. Mix all in a glass or metal bowl or pour all into a mason jar and shake, shake until everything is mixed. Easy as 1. 2. 3. 4

I was so exited about one of the Spring Flings - A Sea of Pink Sea Salt Soap Bar, that I got hooked on creating DIY recipes for salt scrubs and bath salts just for you! They may be old fashioned beauty treatments, but they’re still popular for a reason. For centuries, people have used salt for a myriad of things, from health and healing to curing and preserving food. Millions of people have flocked to float in the Dead Sea for its curative and rejuvenating properties. This salt bar was a bit challenging as salt quickly thickens raw soap and makes it difficult to pour easily, but it turned out beautifully. The Spring Flings will be available March 20. They won't last long, so make sure to order yours as soon as they're released. As mentioned in the last post, salt draws out toxins leaving skin cleaner and healthier. The basic difference between why we use salt scrubs vs sugar scrubs is that salt tends to be coarser and therefore not necessarily the best choice for face or sometimes the body. However, it is ideal for heels, feet, knees and elbows. Additionally, salt baths are regenerating because of their ability to draw out toxins in the body.
Sugar Scrubs, Salt Scrubs or Bath Salts?
Sugar scrubs naturally contain Alpha Hydroxy acids which are great exfoliators. Exfoliation helps you get rid of dead skin cells and in turn retain moisture. Salt scrubs, on the other hand, are generally coarser and better suited to the more dry areas like knees, elbows and heels. Plus salt contains antibacterial properties and help remove toxins. Bath salts were created to mimic natural springs and hot springs. They are useful in the removal of toxins, to alleviate tension and soreness and have a calming, relaxing effect. Which do you prefer? Not sure? As I mentioned in my last post, I've been doing my homework. I was never the teacher who liked to give homework, but I've always believed in reading and more reading. As well as the old adage regarding learning something new every day. So, read, read, read and read to your children so they can learn something new everyday too! You'd be amazed at how much information is out there for you to learn and impart. Here are some new (and old) facts about the benefits of herbs, flowers, fruits, veggies and natural clays that I've been reading and learning about. |
